Prefixing Object Names with Attribute Iterator

The purpose of this exercise is to show how to add prefixes using Attribute Iterator . When working on symetrical objects such as rigs you need to keep your naming conventions in order. However this becomes difficult when using duplicated objects and flipped objects. Some objects may end up with the same name. You can add a prefix to many o bjects to differentiate them. This quick tutorial is a example. In evaluation mode you can only perform the command on one object at a time.

To start, open up Carrara. In the Assembly room create a Sphere primitive, a Cube primitive, and a Cone primitive.

Select all 3 objects and choose Attribute Iterator from the Edit menu. Enter "left_" in the Name Prefix field. Disable Replace and Enumerate. There is no need to check include subtree. Click OK.

Your objects should now be renamed with a prefix. This is especially useful when you must mirror objects from one side to the other. You can duplicate with flipped those objects and rename them to the correct side.
